Easter Bunny KitKat

As seems to have been the case recently, it’s up to the UK again to show Japan how it’s done.

Of all the western holidays that Japan could have imported pieces of, it’s been strangely reluctant to touch Easter.  Which is odd, given that once it’s been stripped of all its religious significance and dignity, it’s really all about the chocolate.

And so here’s what is usually a regular two-finger KitKat, now a single bar simply adorned with the smiling face of the Easter Bunny.  Job’s a good ‘un.

KitKat Chunky Caramel (UK)

You get home tired from work and there’s a package poking out of the top of your mailbox.  Inside there’s not one, not two, but three Caramel Chunkies!  If that didn’t happen to you today, well sorry, your life just isn’t as good as mine.

What I like about these, particularly after months of being messed about by Nestlé Japan, is that there’s no finesse, no bullshit, no lofty claims and therefore no disappointment.  They are indeed chunky.  And there’s a big sticky line of caramel down the middle.

Get yer laughing gear round that.

KitKat Cappuccino (UK)

Coffee-flavoured KitKat – always a good idea. Available in packs of 10 – another great plan. Very glad that I had the foresight to buy 2 ten-packs. This will give the chance to savour them properly and review them fully. Again and again.

KitKat Pop Choc (UK)

Like KitKat Little, but in a much bigger pack! Everyone’s a winner.

KitKat Big Breaks (UK)

I wish I could find the photo of this, the most terrifying KitKat on the market.

With a design apparently based on a police riot control baton, a pivotal moment in KitKat research – proof that there is such a thing as too much KitKat. Tasty, but unnecessary.

KitKat Editions Tiramisu (UK)

A bit smaller than a regular Chunky, so will leave you wanting, needing more. Very special indeed.

More UK KitKats

Look at them all!

3starsFirst is the plain chocolate, which was just OK. Just didn’t seem to have enough flavour.

4starsNext is the MintKat, which would have got five stars if only it had been plain chocolate instead of milk.

5starsThen the now famous KitKat Caramac – the nostalgic marriage of what were Rowntree’s KitKat and Mackintosh’s Caramac. Faultless. Peerless. Tons in my fridge.

4starsAnd finally the Chunky Peanut Butter. Another surprise. Wouldn’t choose it over other KitKats but extremely tasty nonetheless.
